2025 1st QUARTER NEW RELEASES
 |
Platypus Rex Vol. 1 |
 |
Blood & Silver |
QEW Publishing is excited again about resuming the annual goal of releasing new publications after the 1st quarter of a new year. Resources have always been limited and it's been a struggle as we aimed to publish and release two new comics each year. Selections for 2025's 1st Quarter new releases are two special compilations derived from their respective mini-series. They are Platypus Rex Vol. 1 and Blood & Silver and both titles have already been submitted for their first printing. Admittedly, there's been some serious slacking regarding this annual effort, which has been mostly due to limited funding. But despite the significance of this obstacle, QEW Publishing intends to make it a priority and a sincere continued effort to keep new publications coming.
RETURNING TO KA-BLAM!

And just like that--"poof!" Comic Flea Market upped and disappeared! What happened to CFM? Where did CFM go? Why did CFM go? Who knows? Sadly, there was no time for getting answers to any of those questions from anyone or anywhere. QEW Publishing had been employing Comic Flea Market's print-on-demand and distribution services for years now. QEW even had its very own publisher's category on Comic Flea Market's website, where all current QEW Publishing comics where available. Nevertheless, the necessity to maintain production and meet pressing deadlines, forced a decision be made to return to utilizing the services of Ka-Blam. A falling out concerning page sequentials had resulted in QEW Publishing and Ka-Blam parting ways years ago. It was recently discovered QEW Publishing's account there at Ka-Blam was still active and even the comics that had been printed there years ago were still archived right there on its platform. So, Ka-Blam it is again. Yes, service is pricey, but costs for almost everything is up nowadays, and there are zero regrets. Ka-Blam is once again our new go-to for printing and distribution. Hellion #6 was the first comic in years that was recently printed by Ka-Blam and the quality of the finished product, we're pleased to say, was excellent.
DOUG ORTEGA
In extremely rare occassions, collaboration with other writers has occurred. QEW Publishing has reached out to Doug Ortega with a proposal to possibly recruit him to collaborate on a new developing project. A well-read and deeply thoughtful man with insightful perspectives on the entertainment arts, social matters, theology, and personal religious faith, Doug has been an imaginative, aspiring writer for years. There are just a few more imposing tasks that must be wrapped up prior to delving further into this prospective collaboration. Completing the actual project proposal in its entirety is the first order of busines followed by the settling the terms of this joint venture. Once that's all done and the project's production is fully underway, QEW Publishing Quarterly will then reveal more about the project itself.
KICKSTARTER, YET AGAIN
 |
Kickstarter Logo |
In this instance, the phrase, "If you don't first succeed, then try, try again..." can be perceived as a banal cliche'. But QEW Publishing is making yet another fateful go again at online crowdfunding with Kickstarter. Unfortunately, and for various reasons, every crowdfunding campaign QEW Publishing's ever launched so far has been a grueling failure. The last Kickstarter campaign's goal was for the purpose of covering the printing costs for Hellion #6, the final issue of creator, Jim Savard's Hellion comic mini-series. This next upcoming campaign will be aimed at producing a total of 1,000 printed editions of the newly released Platypus Rex Vol. 1. Being fully aware of past failures here doesn't appear to be a much of a deterrent here at QEW HQ, and nor should it. We'll keep at it and keep making every effort to mitigate any setbacks this time around prior to the launch date of this new campaign. We'll ensure the reward tiers offered will be clear, concise, and enticing. If this campaign is successful, we'll happily welcome our next greatest challenge of any succuessfully funded goal, which would then be meeting our fulfillment obligations.
THE GIFTED #3 LETTERING
 |
Promo Art by Chad Dulac |
QEW Publishing has definitely been way behind getting the lettering for The Gifted #3 done. Chad Dulac, creator/writer of The Gifted comic mini-series has long since returned this comic book's script with his personally recommended and preferred revisions. With plenty of critical commentary and clear editorial strikethroughs noted, the decision has been made to apply his edits in order to move the production this book forward towards completion. Miguel Caraballo has already indicated his willingness to letter the book. The actual new publication and release date for The Gifted #3 is undetermined at this time, but QEW Publishing aims to have the revised script completed for lettering no later than the end of April.
2025 EXHIBIT EVENTS ATTENDANCE

Increased pricing to reserve spots for the larger exhibit event shows over the years has caused some serious resconsideration here at QEW Publishing. We've wanted to commit to attending multiple annual comic conventions more earnestly, but it's now far too costly with too little or no return. There were also only three smaller and more affordable and locally based events that QEW Publishing has been attending consistently. Bellingham Comicon in Ferndale, Washington, for instance, had itself a splendid run. It been yeilding plenty of branding exposure, comic book sales, and prospective networking opportunities for small, indie comic creators since its inception. QEW Publishing will be forever grateful to that show's founder, Eric Burris, for that. But change is a constant occurence and Bellingham Comicon has sadly ended. The number of shows like that one is now even smaller. Perhaps the time has arrived to update and expand QEW Publishing's roster of shows to regularly attend. Reservations have already been confirmed for this year to exhibit at Olympic Collectibles Expo in Silverdale, Washington and Grit City Comic Show in Tacoma. Reservations for Lilac City Comicon in Spokane and Rose City Comi Con in Portland, Oregon are sold out for 2025. QEW Publishing will now look into possibly attending Squatchcon in Port Angeles for 2026, and possibly even consider establishing its very own new local annual convention in the future, which would be very cool.
