2025 2nd QUARTERLY EDITION

QEW Publishing's publications

 THOM FUEGEL

Behind every comic book and graphic novel that's ever been published and released by QEW Publishing is the result of the due diligence of Thom Fuegel. In 2008, Thom had initially been part of a two-person colorist team with former colleague, Ikeda Berry, where they completed the coloring for the 6-part werewolf mini-series, Blood & Silver. His depth of experience, knowledge, and skills had gradually become integral to QEW Publishing's production operations. He drafted and composed QEW Publishing's standardized pre-press guidelines for newly hired artists, remained closely associated with QEW Publishing, and eventually had become Production Director for all of the imprint's works. His meticulous application of attention to detail with his timely signature finishing touches to this day has enable QEW Publishing to release a total of a dozen titles of comic mini-series and graphic novels. Thom Fuegel has been within QEW Publishing's entrusted inner circle for nearly two decades. In the coming months, a reaffirming course will be plotted to validate that trust more substantially. QEW Publishing will be establishing a new online venture for selling and distributing comics
on Amazon Seller and partnering happily with Thom Fuegel.

REPO KATZ INKING & COLORING

Production of this 4-part, action-adventure comic mini-series steadily continues. Steve Sprayson has completed inking Repo Katz #1 comic book in its entirety and has already completed inking pages 1-8 for the comic book, Repo Katz #2. Recently joining the creative team here on this project is colorist/letterer, Miguel Caraballo, who has already completed colored Repo Katz #1 pages 1-7. Narrative & Dialogue scripting of issue #1 has already been tucked into QEW Publishing new Big Jar of tiered  to-do's. The deadline to have the scripting completed for issue #1 is around mid-September 2025. Repo Katz #1 is prospectively being tapped to be a 1st Quarter new release for 2026.

SNICKERDOODLE LINE

Clip Art: Elkhorn School Foundation
There's been consideration here at QEW Publishing to venture into the realm of producing children's books for quite some time. A discussion has taken place with Production Director, Thom Fuegel, about how QEW Publishing could actually do this. The result has been a proposal to create a new line of story books for children called the Snickerdoodle Line.  Ideas for a total of three projects for children's books for the new line have recently been created and each book already has its own respective title.  The stories that will be produced for each book will determine their comparable industry standard for content and nature. QEW Publishing has a tentative goal to have the Snickerdoodle Line's production up and running by mid-2027. The aim will be to submit the books for consideration of distributorship through Scholastic Corporation.

THE GIFTED #3

The Gifted #3 Cover
All editorial revisions of the Narrative & Dialogue scripting for The Gifted #3 have been approved by Chad Dulac. We can now proceed forward with the proper formatting of the script to ready to submit for lettering. August 15, 2025 is deadline set for getting this completed. Meanwhile, the matter of a new colorist still remains. Efforts seeking out a colorist to fulfill this need are taking place and a possibly prospect for the job may have been acquired. The challenge then would be confirming the new colorist is able meet the coloring level already set by the previously two colored books. Coloring tryouts will have to be set for quality assurance. We're hoping this matter can be resolved as soon as possible.

CHAD DULAC'S NEW VENTURE

NEW COLLABORATIVE PROJECT UPDATE

Yaaayyy! Finally!!! We're Free of Snags!!!
It was last reported in the 2025 1st QPQ blog edition  a creative snag had been struck while composing the developing project for  collaborating with writer, Doug Ortega. And as stated earlier, the project's title has yet to be released as the drafting of the proposal was still very much in its infancy. But then came the snag, the horrible literary wrinkle that really needed to be ironed out from the developing draft. It turned out a hiatus to focus on other writings was the way to go. Flow has been restored and the creative processing train is back on track. QEW Publishing aims to have this proposal completed for submission before the end of this month. This project, its title, and more details about it should now be revealed in the upcoming 3rd 2025 QPQ blog edition.

2025 1st QUARTERLY EDITION

2025 1st QUARTER NEW RELEASES

Platypus Rex Vol. 1
Blood & Silver

QEW Publishing is excited again about resuming the annual goal of releasing new publications after the 1st quarter of a new year. Resources have always been limited and it's been a struggle as we aimed to publish and release two new comics each year. Selections for 2025's 1st Quarter new releases are two special compilations derived from their respective mini-series. They are Platypus Rex Vol. 1 and Blood & Silver and both titles have already been submitted for their first printing. Admittedly, there's been some serious slacking regarding this annual effort, which has been mostly due to limited funding. But despite the significance of this obstacle, QEW Publishing intends to make it a priority and a sincere continued effort to keep new publications coming.

RETURNING TO KA-BLAM!

Ka-Blam! Logo
And just like that--"poof!" Comic Flea Market upped and disappeared! What happened to CFM? Where did CFM go? Why did CFM go? Who knows? Sadly, there was no time for getting answers to any of those questions from anyone or anywhere. QEW Publishing had been employing Comic Flea Market's print-on-demand and distribution services for years now. QEW even had its very own publisher's category on Comic Flea Market's website, where all current QEW Publishing comics where available. Nevertheless, the necessity to maintain production and meet pressing deadlines, forced a decision be made to return to utilizing the services of Ka-Blam. A falling out concerning page sequentials had resulted in QEW Publishing and Ka-Blam parting ways years ago. It was recently discovered QEW Publishing's account there at Ka-Blam was still active and even the comics that had been printed there years ago were still archived right there on its platform. So, Ka-Blam it is again. Yes, service is pricey, but costs for almost everything is up nowadays, and there are zero regrets. Ka-Blam is once again our new go-to for printing and distribution. Hellion #6 was the first comic in years that was recently printed by Ka-Blam and the quality of the finished product, we're pleased to say, was excellent.

DOUG ORTEGA

In extremely rare occassions, collaboration with other writers has occurred. QEW Publishing has reached out to Doug Ortega with a proposal to possibly recruit him to collaborate on a new developing project. A well-read and deeply thoughtful man with insightful perspectives on the entertainment arts, social matters, theology, and personal religious faith, Doug has been an imaginative, aspiring writer for years. There are just a few more imposing tasks that must be wrapped up prior to delving further into this prospective collaboration. Completing the actual project proposal in its entirety is the first order of busines followed by the settling the terms of this joint venture. Once that's all done and the project's production is fully underway, QEW Publishing Quarterly will then reveal more about the project itself.

KICKSTARTER, YET AGAIN

Kickstarter Logo
In this instance, the phrase, "If you don't first succeed, then try, try again..." can be perceived as a banal cliche'. But QEW Publishing is making yet another fateful go again at online crowdfunding with Kickstarter. Unfortunately, and for various reasons, every crowdfunding campaign QEW Publishing's ever launched so far has been a grueling failure. The last Kickstarter campaign's goal was for the purpose of covering the printing costs for Hellion #6, the final issue of creator, Jim Savard's Hellion comic mini-series. This next upcoming campaign will be aimed at producing a total of 1,000 printed editions of the newly released Platypus Rex Vol. 1. Being fully aware of past failures here doesn't appear to be a much of a deterrent here at QEW HQ, and nor should it. We'll keep at it and keep making every effort to mitigate any setbacks this time around prior to the launch date of this new campaign. We'll ensure the reward tiers offered will be clear, concise, and enticing. If this campaign is successful, we'll happily welcome our next greatest challenge of any succuessfully funded goal, which would then be meeting our fulfillment obligations.

THE GIFTED #3 LETTERING

Promo Art by Chad Dulac
QEW Publishing has definitely been way behind getting the lettering for The Gifted #3 done. Chad Dulac, creator/writer of The Gifted comic mini-series has long since returned this comic book's script with his personally recommended and preferred revisions. With plenty of critical commentary and clear editorial strikethroughs noted, the decision has been made to apply his edits in order to move the production this book forward towards completion. Miguel Caraballo has already indicated his willingness to letter the book.  The actual new publication and release date for The Gifted #3 is undetermined at this time, but QEW Publishing aims to have the revised script completed for lettering no later than the end of April.

2025 EXHIBIT EVENTS ATTENDANCE

Increased pricing to reserve spots for the larger exhibit event shows over the years has caused some serious resconsideration here at QEW Publishing. We've wanted to commit to attending multiple annual comic conventions more earnestly, but it's now far too costly with too little or no return. There were also only three smaller and more affordable and locally based events that QEW Publishing has been attending consistently. Bellingham Comicon in Ferndale, Washington, for instance, had itself a splendid run. It been yeilding plenty of branding exposure, comic book sales, and prospective networking opportunities for small, indie comic creators since its inception. QEW Publishing will be forever grateful to that show's founder, Eric Burris, for that. But change is a constant occurence and Bellingham Comicon has sadly ended. The number of shows like that one is now even smaller. Perhaps the time has arrived to update and expand QEW Publishing's roster of shows to regularly attend. Reservations have already been confirmed for this year to exhibit at Olympic Collectibles Expo in Silverdale, Washington and Grit City Comic Show in Tacoma. Reservations for Lilac City Comicon in Spokane and Rose City Comi Con in Portland, Oregon are sold out for 2025. QEW Publishing will now look into possibly attending Squatchcon in Port Angeles for 2026, and possibly even consider establishing its very own new local annual convention in the future, which would be very cool.
